226.32 kWp Solar PV Layout and Mounting Design for a Public Sector Building in Bedfordshire
PVSol rooftop layout for a 226.32 kWp solar PV design using JA Solar 460 W modules on a public sector building in Bedfordshire.
Nortcel was asked to prepare a solar PV layout for a public sector building in Bedfordshire, based on a supplied drawing and project specification.
The scope was focused on the solar panel layout and mounting arrangement only. Inverters, BESS, consumption modelling and financial analysis were not required for this stage.
The challenge
The project needed a rooftop PV layout that followed the supplied drawing while using the specified JA Solar 460 W panels and SolarEdge-compatible design approach.
The design also needed to account for practical roof-mounted installation requirements, including module placement, roof zones and mounting coordination.
The solution
Nortcel developed a 226.32 kWp rooftop solar PV layout using 492 JA Solar JAM54S40-460/LR modules.
The model covered 5 roof areas, with the array arranged across the available rooftop space and prepared around the mounting and panel specification required for quotation.
Project results
The PVSol model estimated annual solar generation of 218,406 kWh / year.
The system had a specific annual yield of 964.35 kWh/kWp, a performance ratio of 87.4% and modelled shading losses of 7.1%.
Estimated avoided emissions were 37,624 kg CO₂ / year.
Design outcome
The design provided a clear basis for quoting the panel and mounting package, with a defined module count, capacity, roof layout and mounting scope.
The output helped turn the supplied drawing and specification into a structured solar PV layout ready for client review and next-stage coordination.
